Custom Machining

Standard crucible dimensions don't fit every system or process. IAM machines crucibles from customer-supplied drawings, sample parts, or dimensional specs provided by email or phone. If you're replacing a legacy part or designing for a new system, our team confirms fit and compatibility before machining begins.

We work across 12+ materials — graphite, boron nitride, BN-TiB₂ intermetallic, molybdenum, copper, tungsten, and more. If a geometry exists in any of these materials, we can machine it.

Available Configurations

All configurations are available in graphite and boron nitride. Thermodynamic and thick wall designs are also available in BN-TiB₂ intermetallic.

Thermodynamic

Sits away from the hearth wall, reducing thermal contact and improving heat distribution. Promotes more uniform heating and higher, more consistent evaporation rates — particularly useful for materials requiring tight process control or elevated source temperatures.

Thick Wall

Increased wall thickness stabilizes temperature during deposition, reduces cracking risk under thermal cycling, and supports nesting standard liners inside for expanded material options within existing hearth configurations. Also used to reduce the quantity of evaporation material required per run.

Reduced Volume

External dimensions remain compatible with the original hearth pocket — no hardware changes required. The smaller internal cavity lowers the quantity of evaporation material per run, valuable when working with expensive or tightly controlled materials. Also supports nested liners for additional flexibility.
